泰国扩大禁烟法规适用更多室内场所 (Thailand Extends Smoking Ban to More Indoor Businesses)

泰国政府决定下个月把禁烟法扩大到有空调的场所和露天市场，进一步减少吸烟。禁烟法将于2月17号生效，法令适用范围将包括沙龙和夜总会等室内设施。之前的法律已经禁止顾客在有空调的餐厅里吸烟。违反这项法令的吸烟者将被罚款68美元，不执行法令的餐厅老板有可能被罚680美元。

Thailand is extending its smoking ban to air-conditioned venues and outdoor markets next month to further cut down on tobacco use.The ban, which takes effect on February 17th, applies to such indoor venues as saloons and nightclubs. Air-conditioned restaurants were already prohibited from allowing patrons to smoke.Smokers who violate the ban will face a 68-dollar fine, while owners who fail to enforce the rule could be hit with a 680-dollar fine.

美军宣布在巴格达南部郊区对伊拉克基地组织据点发动了近几个月来美军在伊拉克的规模最大的空袭行动之一。军方星期四公布的一份声明说，美军战机在据称是恐怖分子藏身之地的阿拉伯雅博地区投掷了1万8千多公斤的炸弹。空中轰炸持续了10分钟，目前还没有有关伤亡情况的消息。

这次空袭行动是美军在伊拉克全国范围内打击伊拉克基地组织据点的军事攻势的一部分。美国官员说，美军在巴格达和安巴尔省打击反叛活动的成功行动已将与基地组织有关联的反叛团体驱赶到迪亚拉和其它北部省份。美军正在那些地方展开攻势。

The U.S. military has announced one of its largest bombing missions in Iraq in months, striking a stronghold of al-Qaida in Iraq on the southern outskirts of Baghdad.A military statement issued Thursday says warplanes dropped more than 18 thousand kilograms of explosives on what were described as terrorist safehouses in Arab Jabour.The aerial bombardment lasted for 10 minutes, and there were no immediate reports of casualties. 

The bombing was part of a nationwide offensive targeting strongholds of the al-Qaida in Iraq group.U.S. officials say successful counter-insurgency operations in Baghdad and Anbar province have pushed al-Qaida-linked groups to Diyala and other northern provinces, where a U.S. offensive is under way.
