韩国当选总统表示他将对北韩有耐心 (South Korean President-Elect Says He Will be Patient With North Korea)

韩国当选总统李明博表示,在接任总统之后,他的政府将继续迫使北韩放弃核武器,但他补充说,他同时将耐心对待平壤。

李明博星期四在首尔与外国记者谈话时承诺,他将和参与北韩核项目谈判的国家,像美国、中国、俄罗斯和日本进行更多的合作。

South Korea's president-elect Lee Myung-bak says his government will continue to press North Korea to give up its nuclear weapons after he takes office, but adds that he will also be patient with Pyongyang.

Speaking with foreign correspondents in Seoul Thursday, Mr. Lee promised more cooperation with countries involved in the talks on North Korea's nuclear program, such as the United States, China, Russia and Japan.

He also said he would try to convince the North that giving up its nuclear weapons program will benefit both the government and its people.

The British Prime Minister Gordon Brown is going to Asia Thursday to visit China and India. It will be Gordon Brown's first trip to the region since he became prime minister.
The visit is expected to focus on the environment and trade.

The prime minister's first stop is China, where he is also expected to discuss the Beijing Olympics -- as London prepares to host the games in 2012.

Prime Minister Brown has said developing a long-term business relationship with China could help create tens of thousands of British jobs.

Mr. Brown then heads to India for talks with Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.
