伯格森对美国一家法庭说,他以为他的联系人与台湾国防部有关联。检方说,这名联络人、路易斯安纳州新奥尔良的郭台生把相关情报转交给了中国人康育新。目前这两人都在押等待审理。

China is denying any involvement in an espionage case in which a U.S. defense analyst pleaded guilty to passing on classified information to an alleged Chinese government agent.

Chinese Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Jiang Yu says the story is groundless. She says the aim of the case is to stir up fears that China is a threat to the rest of the world.

On Monday, U.S. Defense Department analyst Gregg Bergersen pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy to delivering classified information about U.S. and Taiwanese military relations to unauthorized persons. Much of the information was related to U.S. military sales to Taiwan.

Bergersen told a U.S. court he thought his contact was aligned with Taiwan's defense ministry. Prosecutors say the contact, Tai Shen Kuo of New Orleans, Louisiana, turned the information over to a Chinese national, Yu Xin Kang. Kuo and Kang are in jail awaiting trial.

India's soccer captain Bhaichung Bhutia says he will not carry the Beijing Olympic torch during its run through the Indian capital of New Delhi later this month.

In a letter to the Indian Olympic Association, Bhutia said he is refusing to hold the torch because he wants to show his solidarity with Tibetans and voice his opposition to China's recent crackdown on anti-government protests by Buddhist
monks in Tibet.

Bhutia, who is Buddhist, is the second athlete to refuse to run with the torch which set off on its journey around the globe from Beijing on Monday. The Beijing Games torch is scheduled to pass through the Indian capital on April 17th.
