Chinese and international health officials say they are working closely together to fight a severe intestinal virus that has already killed 28 children in China. Speaking at a joint news conference today (Wednesday) in Beijing, a Chinese Health Ministry spokesman and the World Health Organization's top representative in China (Hans Troedsson) both said the disease was likely to peak in the coming months of June and July.
Officials say the numbers will also rise because of a new order to report all cases of the disease to the Ministry of Health. China has already reported nearly 16-thousand cases of people infected with hand, food and mouth disease. Today, two
more children died from the disease. |
