| China has dismissed
the chief prosecutor of the northern port city of Tianjin for "severe
breach of discipline."
The Xinhua news agency says China's top legislature, the Standing Committee
of the National People's Congress, decided to remove prosecutor Li Baojin
at the end of its six-day legislative session Sunday. Li's alleged crimes
were not explained.
The legislature also dismissed three members Sunday.
The director of the Shanghai Municipal Labor and Social Security Bureau
(, Zhu Junyi,) allegedly received bribes and violated state financial
rules while overseeing the use of government pension funds.
The former director of Fujian's Bureau of Industry and Commerce (,
Zhou Jinhuo,) was accused of graft.
And the secretary of the communist party committee in Sichuan province's
Mianyang city (, Huang Xuejiu,) allegedly fled after he hit and killed
a teenage girl with his car while driving drunk.
