法宣布紧急状态骚乱仍然不断 (French Declares State of Emergency, Riots Still Continues)

尽管法国几座城市实行了宵禁，以制止将近两个星期的抢劫、纵火和其它破坏行为，但是暴力仍然再度发生。四处横行的青少年夜间在法国各地焚烧了600多辆汽车，数量比前一夜要少。警方说，在最新的暴力潮中，有204人被逮捕。暴力行动主要是北非裔穆斯林青少年所为。

Violence has flared again in several French cities, despite the imposition of night-time curfews aimed at curbing the looting, burning and other destruction that has taken place for nearly two weeks. Rampaging youths burned more than 600 vehicles across the country overnight, fewer than the night before. Police say 204 people were arrested in the latest violence, which has been carried out mainly by Muslim youths of North African descent.

Several towns have imposed overnight curfews. One town, Amiens, also has banned the sale of gasoline to teenagers in an apparent bid to halt the setting of fires. In the southern city of Lyon, officials were forced to shut down the entire subway system after a firebomb exploded in one station late Tuesday. No injuries were reported.

Prime Minister Dominique de Villepin Wednesday declared a state of emergency that covers most of France's major cities and towns. On Tuesday, he announced a number of measures to address what many French say are the main causes of the riots - youth unemployment, poor schools and discrimination.

布莱尔胡锦涛谈中国人权问题 (Blair Hu Jintao Discuss Human Rights)

中国国家主席胡锦涛在伦敦和英国首相布莱尔举行会谈，商讨包括人权在内的一系列问题。布莱尔表示，他和胡锦涛主席的会谈包括贸易、安全以及全球气候变暖等问题。布莱尔的一位发言人说，首相还将提出令人关注的中国人权记录问题。西方许多人士长期以来一直批评中国人权记录恶劣。

胡锦涛主席在伦敦之行的第一天结束时，星期二晚上出席了伊丽莎白女王举办的国宴。在胡锦涛一行通往白金汉宫的沿途上站立了数百名示威者，其中很多人挥舞着西藏旗帜和要求西藏自由的标语。

Chinese President Hu Jintao is meeting with Prime Minister Tony Blair in London for talks on a number of issues, including human rights. Blair has said his talks with President Hu Jintao will include trade, security, and global warming. A Blair spokesman said the prime minister will also raise concerns about China's human rights record, which many in the West have long characterized as poor.

President Hu Jintao attended a state banquet with Queen Elizabeth Tuesday night, at the end of his first day in London. Hundreds of protesters stood along Mr. Hu's route to Buckingham Palace. Many waved Tibetan flags and held banners demanding freedom for Tibet.
