(China Olympics)

A new report says the Chinese government continues to forcefully evict people from their homes as preparations expand for next year's Summer Olympics in Beijing. The report, by the Center on Housing Rights and Evictions, said a recent trip to the Chinese capital confirmed its estimate that one-point-five million people would be displaced by the time the 2008 Games are held next August.

The Chinese government said the group had "grossly inflated" the figure. The housing rights group said people are being forced to relocate several kilometers from their communities and businesses, increasing transportation costs and driving people further into poverty. Meanwhile, the Beijing-based computer company Lenovo - China's only worldwide Olympic sponsor - said it would end its top-level sponsorship after next year's Games.

(Hong Kong Official Calls Disneyland Performance Unsatisfactory)

A senior Hong Kong official has criticized Disneyland's performance over the past two years, saying it has done an "unsatisfactory" job of attracting more visitors.

Speaking to lawmakers Wednesday Fredrick Ma, Secretary of Commerce and Economic Development, praised Disneyland for helping enhance Hong Kong's brand image and its role as one of the port city's largest employers. But, he noted that poor attendance was hurting the park's performance. The Hong Kong government owns a majority stake in the park.

Ma said officials would continue to work with the park to help bring in more customers. Hong Kong's Disneyland is the second park to be built in Asia. The first was built in Tokyo. Shanghai is planning on building another major theme park, possibly a Disneyland, which could further challenge Hong Kong.
