(Tibetan Woman Cites Chinese Pressure for Withdrawl from Pageant in Malaysia)

A Tibetan woman says she withdrew from a beauty pageant in Malaysia after the organizers told her she could only participate as "Miss Tibet-China." Indian-born Tsering Chungtak spoke to reporters Wednesday in New Delhi where she returned after taking part in the Miss Tourism competition for one week.

Tsering Chungtak said the pageant organizer told her on December first about Chinese pressure and gave her the choice of either adopting the new sash or quitting.

Wearing a sash that said "Miss Tibet" , the 22 year-old sociology student told reporters the request was unacceptable as long as China is in control and there is no freedom in Tibet.
But she said she did not have a political agenda for participating in the competition.

(North Korea Says President Bush Sent Letter to Kim Jong Il)

North Korea says its leader Kim Jong Il has received a personal letter from President Bush. The official Korean Central News Agency said Thursday that the letter was delivered by U.S. nuclear envoy Christopher Hill during a rare visit to North Korea this week, and handed over to the country's Foreign Minister Pak Ui Chun.

The report did not give any additional details and the White House has not commented on the matter.

U.S. nuclear envoy Hill has been stepping up efforts to get North Korea to submit a list of all of its nuclear activities before the end of the year. Speaking in Beijing, Hill said that the list did not need to be final, but stressed that it should at least be credible. On Wednesday, Hill said he was still having trouble reaching an agreement with North Korea on just what nuclear activities Pyongyang should disclose in the list.
