报告发现2007年全球新增一千两百多万癌症病例 (Report Sees More than 12 Million New Cancer Cases Worldwide in 2007)

美国癌症协会说，今年全世界新诊断出的癌症病例超过了1200万，760万人死于癌症。美国癌症协会星期一发布报告说，新诊断的癌症病例中一半以上以及三分之二的死亡病例都发生在发展中国家。《全球癌症事实和数据》是美国癌症协会首次针对全球癌症死亡人数发表的报告。

这份报告说，在发达国家，前列腺癌、肺癌和结肠癌是男性中最多见的癌症类型，女性患乳腺癌、结肠癌和肺癌则最为常见。报告说，在发展中国家，男性中肺癌、胃癌和肝癌最为常见，女性中患乳腺癌、子宫癌和胃癌的病例最多。

The American Cancer Society says more than 12 million new cancer cases have been diagnosed worldwide in this year, while seven-point-six million people have died of the disease. In a report released Monday, the organization says more than half of the new cancer cases and two-thirds of the deaths are in developing nations. "Global Cancer Facts and Figures" is the society's first report on the worldwide cancer toll. 

The report says prostate, lung and colon cancer are the most frequent form of the disease among men in developed nations. Among women, cancer of the breast, colon and lung were most prevalent. In developing nations, the report said lung, stomach and liver cancer were most common among men, while in women, breast, uterine and stomach cancer topped the list.

中国西南地区百万人面临干旱 (One Million Face Drought in Southwest China)

中国官方媒体报导，中国西南部的广西有100多万人面临饮用水短缺。中国官方的人民日报报导，该地区的干旱情况是50多年来最严重的一次。

报导还说，过去3个月来，广西省的降雨少于正常雨量的一半，有些地区根本没有下雨。中国政府拨款3亿多元人民币帮助把水运到缺水的村庄。人民日报的报导还说，赣江和湘江这两条中国南部主要河流的水位也都降到历史最低水平。

Chinese state media are reporting that more than one million people in the southwestern Guangxi have been hit by drinking water shortages.The official People's Daily newspaper said the drought is the region's worst in more than five decades. 

It also said that in the past three months, Guangxi has had less than half its normal amount of rain, with some areas seeing no rain at all. The Chinese government is allocating more than 300 million dollars to help bring water to thirsty villages. The newspaper also said water levels in two major southern rivers, the Gan and Xiang, have also dropped to historic lows.
